SNAP, Medicaid Application Assistance

RISD has partnered with Children’s Health to assist RISD families in applying or renewing SNAP and Medicaid benefits.

A Children’s Health representative will be assisting our families in the RISD Family Services Center inside The Network of Community Ministries facility every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Children in Texas without health insurance may be able to get low-cost health care from the Children’s Health Insurance Program or no-cost health care from Children’s Medicaid. Both programs cover office visits, prescription drugs, dental care, eye exams, glasses and much more. RISD parents and guardians can receive help with CHIP and Children’s Medicaid applications at the RISD Family Services Center.

RISD families will be able to schedule an appointment for in-person assistance on Tuesdays and virtual appointments Monday through Friday.

Parents should bring:

  • the child’s social security number
  • the child’s alien registration card (I-551) or a copy of the front and back of the card if your child is not a U.S. citizen
  • Proof of each family members income, such as most recent paycheck stubs, a letter from an employer stating how much is earned, or papers that show how much is being received in child support
  • Proof of how much the family pays for childcare, disabled adult care, or child support
