The annual RISD Spelling Bee among 46 students in grades 4 through 8 representing 40 schools produced a winner from each learning community. The winning words were indemnity, simultaneously, fuge, and phenotype.

Grace C. of Lake Highlands Elementary, Beckett E. of MST, Ananth P. of Parkhill, and Atinuke A. of Richland Elementary then took an additional 50-word vocabulary test to determine which two would move on to the represent RISD at the Dallas County Public School Spelling Bee on Feb. 17. Grace and Beckett came out on top and will represent RISD at the county bee next month. This is the second consecutive year that Grace will be attending the county bee.

Congratulations to all the winners and best of luck to Grace and Beckett in the next round! #RISDBeelieves
