RISD retained the firm of O’Hanlon, Demerath and Castillo to conduct a national search for RISD’s next leader, and here is the timeline for the process. (en español)
Phase 1 (Discovery and Community Input) and Phase 2 (Application Period) have now concluded, and the search is currently in Phase 3. In early July, RISD trustees will work with the search firm to identify quality candidates to interview based on qualifications, experience and how well they fit with the superintendent profile. Candidates will be interviewed into mid-July with the goal to have a final candidate identified and announced by July 18.
In Texas, this final candidate is known as a lone finalist, and under the law, 21 days must elapse between that announcement and when the new leader can be formally hired.
After that 21 day period, trustees intend to introduce RISD’s next superintendent on Aug. 9, in advance of the 2022-23 school year that begins Aug. 16.
