Tech Titans Bring Engineers to Junior High Students

In partnership with Tech Titans, RISD hosted engineers from local companies to speak with junior high students about the opportunities available to them in STEM fields and the diversity within the technology sector. Representatives from Qorvo, Cisco Systems, State Farm and other firms also spoke of how nearly every industry has jobs related to STEM.

Tech Titans is a Richardson-based technology trade organization. In September, Laura Bellone, a STEM teacher at Richardson High School, was named a Tech Titan of the Future. The firm’s annual awards aim “to give North Texas changemakers — doers, innovators, adopters, and executors — well-deserved visibility for the work they do.”

The Tech Titans of the Future recognition goes to a high school math or science teacher for the development and implementation of an innovative teaching technique or program that inspires student interest in math or science. Last year, Ms. Bellone was one of four RISD teachers — one from each high school — who was honored with a Tech Titans STEM Excellence Award.
