Total Solar Eclipse April 8

jjp eclipse 3

RISD excitedly experienced the total eclipse on April 8. Many thanks to every campus for working to create an engaging experience for students.

Campuses provided eclipse viewing glasses donated by the Perot Museum to every student for safe viewing throughout the eclipse. Campus staff members were provided with information, training, and recommendations so all students were able to participate outdoors and collectively experience the totality of the event. Viewing glasses for every RISD staff member were donated by the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

The RISD central curriculum department also provided educators with instructional recommendations to create an exciting day that goes beyond viewing the eclipse. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students, and your school district is excited to share it with them.

With an influx of visitors expected in North Texas to view the event, RISD is preparing for the possibility of bus route or dismissal delays on April 8 due to increased traffic.
