Veterans Day Activities

US Flag We love our veterans

There were numerous activities across RISD for Veterans Day. Some of the ceremonies included:

Lake Highlands Elementary held a schoolwide flag raising and heard from a speaker from Carry The Load. Mohawk Elementary held a public flag-raising ceremony and veterans spoke to students after morning announcements.

Spring Creek Elementary had a public gathering as students met with veterans in the garden area and fourth-graders sang patriotic songs. Northwood Hills Elementary lined its circle drive with photos of students’ family members who have served.

Forestridge Elementary students made a Buddy Poppy after reading “In Flanders Field,” a poem written during World War I. The school decorated a wall of honor with the poppies, as well as sharing them with veterans.

Canyon Creek Elementary hosted veterans for a breakfast in the campus’s Park Pavilion, while Skyview Elementary had a parade in the front circle drive.
