District Design Team Committee

Richardson ISD is currently working on the next five-year strategic plan for the district.

Strategic Plan 2023 will support the implementation of the recently adopted Graduate Profile, and establish goals, strategies and action plans to support the district’s continuous improvement efforts.

To support the development of the plan, RISD is currently accepting nominations to participate as part of the district design team committee. This committee will work to develop new district goals and strategies that align to the RISD vision and support the implementation of the Graduate Profile.

Trustees voted in September to partner with engage2learn to facilitate the development of Strategic Plan 2023, with the goal of presenting the proposed plan to the RISD board by the end of the current school year.

Parents interested in serving on this committee can submit a nomination here. The deadline is Dec. 1.

The design team committee will meet on consecutive days in January and for three full days in March 2023.

The committee will meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9, and Tuesday, Jan. 10, and again on Tuesday, March 21, Wednesday, March 22, and Thursday, March 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

If necessary, a lottery will be conducted to ensure each RISD learning community is represented, and the composition of the committee is representative of district demographics.

The District Design Team Committee is just one of the ways parents and the community will be able to provide feedback and input as part of the Strategic Planning process this spring.

Additional community engagement opportunities will include community engagement collaborative sessions, virtual progress meetings as well as subcommittees to support developing the strategic metrics that will evaluate the new district goals.

Trustees Reorganize, Discuss MAP Data, Teacher Survey, Cell Phone Policy

At the June 6 board work session, RISD shared two end of year performance metrics with trustees, including end of year MAP results and data from RISD’s annual climate survey of teachers, which informed a discussion about the district’s cellphone-free policy for students. In addition, trustees were sworn in and reorganized for 2024-25.
