Many RISD Schools to Serve as Vote Centers for November 3 Election

Richardson ISD supports a culture of voting that encourages participation in the voting process.

During early voting and on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2026, many Richardson ISD campuses will serve as official polling locations. Election Day is a student holiday and staff professional development day.

Under Texas Election Code § 43.031, election officials are required to use public buildings—including school facilities—as polling places whenever practicable. RISD is proud to support the democratic process by providing accessible Election Day locations for our community members to exercise their right to vote.

Safety remains our top priority. The following measures will be in effect at all participating campuses:

• Polling sites are restricted to specific areas, such as gyms or libraries, which are physically separated from instructional areas.
• All doors leading from voting areas into main school hallways will be locked, if possible, and monitored by staff.
• Voters will not have access to student restrooms, cafeterias, or classrooms.
• You may notice an increased presence of District Safety Personnel on campus to monitor traffic and ensure safety.

RISD is proud to support the democratic process by providing accessible Election Day locations for our community members to exercise their right to vote.
