North Texas Giving Day fundraising buckets

Many thanks to the hundreds of RISD stakeholders who donated to the district’s preferred nonprofit partners as part of North Texas Giving Day.

Overall, $66 million was raised to support more than 3,300 North Texas organizations. Bowie and Thurgood Marshall elementary schools were among a number of RISD campuses that raised money through challenges and give-aways.

“At Bowie, we made giving easy and fun for our staff and kids,” Principal Chanda Ash said. “We had a hat day! Staff collected donations for North Texas Giving Day at the door that morning (in a hat 🎩) and students enjoyed a day of fun while also giving to others.”

“Each year, we look forward to participating in the North Texas Giving Day. Thurgood Marshall students love to donate and wear jeans with their favorite shirt,” according to Principal Dr. Charmaine Curtis.

At Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet, Principal Michael Thomas encouraged his elementary students to take part with a little healthy competition.

“This year, we used our house system to motivate students to participate in North Texas Giving Day. The House of Altruismo (aka The House of Givers) challenged all four houses to bring change and dollars to support this venture,” Thomas said. “This  brought in over $2,100 from the campus, and the winning House of Reveur was awarded 200 house points. Our scholars and families understand that every bit counts, and their donations benefit the overall goal just like each house point for character, academic success, and integrity supports their exemplary house.”

Great job, Principal Thomas, thanks to you and the entire HPPM family! #RISDGreatness
