The RISD Council of PTAs surprised Interim Superintendent Tabitha Branum with the National PTA Lifetime Achievement award during its final meeting of the 2021-22 school year.

Council of PTAs Vice President for Programs Meredyth Childress called Branum “the complete PTA package.”

“Tabitha is not only the leader of the RISD administration, but she is also mom to two Richardson ISD students. She is the perfect P (parent), T (teacher) and A (Advocate),” Childress said. “These past two years have challenged us all to figure out how to live in a world with a pandemic. We look to our leaders in these times to make hard decisions, and if we look closely here in RISD, we can see Tabitha has faced the challenges with positivity, constant communication, and stepping up when the time came. Thank you, Tabitha for making each person in RISD and our community feel like their voice is being heard. You make every person feel like the most important person in the world when you talk to them.”
