New Crosswalks, School Zone Signs Being Installed

Project RightSize image

The City of Richardson is installing school zone signage and painting crosswalks to reflect changes brought about by Project RightSize. Construction of the new signage and crosswalks is expected to be completed by Aug. 5 and will be in place for the first day of school on Aug. 13.

As a result of the consolidation of specific RISD elementary campuses, some school attendance boundaries have also been adjusted to ensure greater efficiency with both district facilities and operations. The changes necessitated new school zone signage be installed and crosswalks updated to ensure students may walk or bike safely to their new campus.

The school district is also working with the Richardson Police Department to ensure crossing guards will be hired to man the intersections of Yale Blvd. and Belt Line Road and Yale Blvd. and Arapaho Road, to assist families in safely crossing those streets before and after school.

RISD welcomes students back to school for the 2024-25 school year on Tuesday, Aug. 13. Parents can find information and resources about Back to School here.
