District Proposing Minor Changes to Board District Boundaries

RISD Admin building

RISD is proposing a series of minor changes to the existing boundaries of the single-member districts that determine how five of the seven board members are elected.

All but one of the changes do not impact any residences or voters, and are being proposed to remove subprecincts that contain no residences nor voters – primarily involving small areas of commercial or public property. One proposed change would move a neighborhood of 35 residents from Single-Member District 4 back to Single-Member District 5 after the residences were inadvertently moved to SMD 4 in the more substantial redistricting in 2021 that was completed in response to new census data.

None of the proposed changes would impact voters in the upcoming 2023 Single-Member District 3 election.

To see locations of the proposed changes, please view the presentation here, or watch the discussion here.

To provide feedback to RISD about the proposed changed, please use the Let’s Talk feature here.

The district will share any feedback with trustees before a potential vote on the boundary changes at a December meeting.
