Dyslexia Parent Night Oct. 4

Dyslexia Month Image

Join the RISD dyslexia team on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the Professional Development Center at 701 W. Belt Line Road in Richardson from 6:30 to 8 p.m. to learn more about this common learning difference.

RISD dyslexia therapists will explain what intervention programming the school district uses. Layne Pethick of Region 10 will present on “Understanding Brain Research for Better Literacy Outcomes.”

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month and a good time to recognize the amazing talents of all RISD students with dyslexia.

Dyslexia is a neurological condition caused by a different wiring in the brain that impacts the ability to read and spell. Because nearly 1 out of 5 people has dyslexia, it is important to recognize the signs early to provide the necessary remediation. It’s also important to understand this learning difference and encourage each child’s individual strengths.
