Welcome to RISD: Now Open for Out-of-District Families

RISD is the ONE. Opportunities, neighborhood schools, and experiences. Now enrolling out of district families.

In Richardson ISD, we believe every child deserves a district of opportunities. We are excited to open enrollment for out-of-district families!

Whether your family is looking for specialized programs and opportunities, a family-centered neighborhood school, or innovative student experiences, RISD is the ONE for your family!

Why Choose RISD?

From the first day of Pre-K to high school graduation, RISD offers a diverse array of experiences tailored to your child’s future. Learn more about RISD’s opportunities and experiences

Join the RISD Family Today!

Don’t miss the chance to give your child the RISD experience and opportunity. We invite you to explore our schools and see why we are the right choice for your family’s educational journey.

Open enrollment applications will be considered based on a student’s academic performance, attendance, and disciplinary record, along with space availability at the requested schools. Space availability is determined by factors such as building capacity, program and campus enrollment, growth projections, grade-level enrollment, and teacher/professional staff allocations. Priority is given to existing RISD families who reside within district boundaries.

Out-of-district enrollment applications for the 2026-27 school year are open April 1 through midnight, July 1.
