All four RISD marching bands have qualified for the Area B 6A contest to be held Saturday, Oct. 21, at Pennington Field in Bedford.

Bands earning a first division rating at their respective region marching assessments qualified for the area contest, and 34 marching bands from all across North Texas will participate in the Area B contest Saturday.

RISD Executive Director of Fine Arts Jeff Bradford said Area B is arguably the deepest and most difficult area contest in Texas for 6A marching ensembles.

In the preliminary round, bands will compete for a score and ranking from five different judges; two marching and three music. The top 12 scores from the prelims will compete in finals Saturday evening with the top six advancing to the state championships at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Bradford expects the Area B contest will yield some of the highest scoring bands in the state.

Congratulations to all the students, teachers, parents and fans! #RISDBelieves #RISDWeAreOne
