November is National Family Engagement Month

November is National Family Engagement Month, a time dedicated to strengthening partnerships between families and schools to support student success. This observance recognizes the vital role families play in a child’s education, as studies show that family involvement leads to better academic performance, improved attendance, and stronger social-emotional skills.

RISD looks forward to sharing many of the ways that our families can actively participate in their child’s school by engaging in fun and educational activities at home, and focusing on shared experiences like reading and learning new skills together.

Key ways to celebrate include volunteering at school, attending parent-teacher conferences, and creating quality time through activities like reading, playing, or even setting up a tech-free day.

Here are a few ideas and suggestions to consider:

By participating in National Family Engagement Month, families can build a greater understanding of what their children are learning, meet other families, and contribute ideas that benefit the entire school community. When parents and guardians are involved, they show children that education is a priority and that the school community values their input.
