There are numerous opportunities for RISD students to continue learning over the summer months. The mission of RISD summer school programming is to serve our students and the community through engaging experiences that inspire and enrich the whole child. Summer Reading

Summer Meal Resources
Richardson ISD will offer summer meals from May 27 to July 24 at various locations around the district.
Please note that RISD summer meals must be eaten at the campus and cannot be taken to go.
Network of Community Ministries Mobile Food Pantry:
In addition, the Network of Community Ministries mobile food pantry will stop at different places around RISD over the summer months.

Summer Counseling Support
Accessible counseling is available to RISD students through Telehealth appointments via TCHATT as well as MetroCare; students can also contact summer school counselors for counseling resources.
Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT)
- Option 1: speak to summer school counselor for referral
- Option 2: Go to Childrens tchatt to complete consent forms.
MetroCare Empower Program
- Speak to summer school counselor for referral
- Once contacted by Empower team, please complete enrollment paperwork.

Summer Child Care & Camp
The RISD summer 2026 xPlore program will be offered at MST Magnet on Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from June 1 through July 31.
Summer RISD Operating Hours
In June & July, office hours for most RISD central departments and programs are Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central buildings are not open to visitors on June 5, 12, 19, and July 10, 17, and 24.
RISD Offices Closed from June 22 - Friday, July 3
Most RISD schools and many district administrative offices will be closed from June 22 through Friday, July 3. Administrative offices will reopen on Monday, July 6.
While no preparation is required, students may benefit from exploring sample questions or reviewing career interest clusters.
