Three Schools Virtual Only on Monday – Other Schools To Operate Normally

Richardson ISD Storm Update

As temperatures begin to rise, RISD staff continue to assess the district’s buildings and campuses for damage and to verify systems are operating.

Three campuses sustained enough damage to delay reopening, but the majority of Richardson ISD schools will reopen for both in-person and virtual learning on Monday, Feb. 22.

The following three schools will be closed for face to face instruction, and all students will be virtual on Monday, Feb. 22. These campuses will contact parents directly to share specific schedule and Zoom information:

  • Richardson High School
  • Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet
  • Math Science Technology Magnet

Transportation to and from campuses open for in-person class on Monday will run on a normal schedule; meals will be served at the RISD campuses open for in-person instruction; while breakfast and lunch will be available for pick up at RHS, HPPM and MST, the three campuses closed on Monday.

Please note that heating was significantly reduced in all RISD schools and buildings over the last week in an effort to minimize energy consumption. As a result, campus interiors have been very cold and are slowly warming. Temperatures in schools on Monday may be cooler than normal, and students are encouraged to dress for the possibility of cooler indoor temperatures as buildings return to normal.

Please continue to monitor RISD.org and the district’s social media channels for additional updates and information.

We appreciate your continued support.
