Bus Drivers Needed

Be a bus driver or monitor

Bus drivers and bus monitors contribute to the academic success of Richardson ISD. Connections are made with students daily as mentors, observers and, at times, confidants.

RISD invites community members to be a bus driver or bus monitor for the 2021-22 school year. Click here to view the flyer en español.

The starting salary range for bus drivers is $20 to $28.15 an hour. Bus drivers must be at least 18 years old; have a valid Texas commercial driver’s license with passenger and school bus endorsements; be able to pass federal Department of Transportation alcohol and drugs tests and an annual physical exam; and be able to operate the bus and complete required bus driver safety training.

The starting salary range for bus monitors is $13.54 to $13.86 an hour. Bus monitors must be at least 18 years old; be able to ensure the safe and orderly transportation of students with disabilities; be able to work well with students with disabilities; be able to operate safety equipment and adaptive equipment; and be able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

Complete applications must include a high school diploma or GED and three references, including at least one from a current or previous employer.

Applicants selected as candidates are required to submit to a criminal history background check and be fingerprinted before attending orientation. RISD provides fingerprinting services at the Administration Building.
