  • Bond 2021 was approved, and the district can now begin its long-range vision for facilities, including the transformation into a middle-school model and Pre-K for all RISD families. Thank you to the RISD community for investing in our public schools.  
  • Stakeholders will be able to monitor projects via the Bond 2021 website.
  • Congratulations to Megan Timme on winning the District 1 seat on the RISD board of trustees.
  • Early voting in the runoff election for At Large Place 7 is from May 24 to June 1, and Election Day is Saturday, June 5.
  • Thanks to Jean Bono and Kim Caston for their service on the board. 
  • Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds have been released by the state, and RISD can now fund initiatives designed to accelerate student academics and address the impact of the pandemic.
  • The 2021 RISD Parent Survey is now open through May 14. 
  • Planning for next year continues, and RISD currently anticipates making masks optional for students and staff. 
  • Teacher Appreciation Week activities have been taking place across the district all week. Please thank your child’s teachers for their service during this unprecedented school year

The RISD Dyslexia Training Center has been formally accredited by both the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC) and The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) – one of just five ISDs in Texas and the country.

Insurance Available for District Chromebooks

RISD provides students and parents or guardians the opportunity to purchase insurance for Chromebooks owned by the school district and assigned to a student for use at school and home.
