The new STEM Center at Berkner High School has received four Stars of Distinction from the Texas Association of School Administrators/Texas Association of School Boards. The STEM Center received stars for value, community, planning, and school transformation, qualifying it for the Caudill Class distinction.
The Caudill Class is a design standard presented to districts and architects for projects that received at least four stars from the six areas of distinction.
The refurbished library at Pearce High School also will be included in the TASA/TASB 2020-21 Exhibit of School Architecture, which celebrates excellence in planning and design of the learning environment.
The STEM Academy includes an Immersion Studio that provides students with an unparalleled 21st century learning experience. Construction of the STEM Center and Immersion Studio was funded by RISD taxpayers through Bond 2016. The school district’s STEM for All initiative – which affects nearly 10,000 students across the 16 campuses in the Berkner learning community – was seeded with a grant from Texas Instruments.
Pearce’s library renovation was also funded through the 2016 bond program and transformed the school’s main entry into a modern, bright learning space with Mustang Market adjacent to the new media center. #RISDGreatness
