Reading and Language Arts Update

Trustees received an update from the RISD Teaching & Learning team regarding the core work of the district, specifically how reading and language arts are taught at all grade levels. The comprehensive presentation was the first of four that trustees will hear over the spring, each focusing on a different content area.

Ahead of the board meeting, Interim Superintendent Tabitha Branum took a deep dive into RISD classrooms with a focus on this core curriculum area as RISD works to ensure all students connect, learn, grow, and succeed. Click here to view the February Interim Superintendent’s update.

Texas Academic Performance Reports

Trustees also held a public hearing Tuesday and approved RISD’s annual performance report as required by Texas Education Code.

The report includes the Texas Academic Performance Reports, financial standard reports, performance objectives, and other reports for the district and each campus from the 2020-2021 school year. The Texas Education Agency and the U.S. Department of Education require RISD to publish annual report cards with specific district and campus-level data from the prior year.

These report cards provide a broad view of campus performance and are intended specifically to inform parents and guardians about a school’s individual characteristics and academic performance. The report cards do not include individual student information.

Please visit RISD’s Accountability and Continuous Improvement page to access these reports, which also may be available for viewing at your child’s school. If you have questions or need additional information, please contact your campus.
