Spring 2021 STEM Calendar information below

International Women’s Day is Monday and kicks off STEM week in RISD.

On Monday, March 8, RISD teachers encouraged students to write a letter to a woman who has made a difference in their lives; read a book about a female figure who made a difference in the world; create a collage of the qualities they believe a leader should have.

On Tuesday, teachers are encouraged to create a funny graphic about the importance of punctuation; allow students to proofread something the wrote earlier in the year; and explore career such as editors, reporters, etc.

Wednesday, March 10, is National Mario day and teachers may discuss careers that collaborate to make video games, while helping students design a new video game that appeals to all ages or innovate new ideas for improving how video games are played.

Thursday, March 11, is World Kidney Day. RISD teachers may show students how to create a cookbook full of recipes for a healthy diet or connect virtually with a doctor, dialysis center for more information related to good kidney health.

Friday is National Plant a Flower Day. RISD educators may explore different types of flowers and the impact they have on the environment or participate in a virtual field trip with the Dallas Arboretum or design a garden for the school or community.

School Leaders Across the State Visit RISD

The RISD College, Career & Military Readiness (CCMR) team hosted educational leaders and peers form across Texas this week at the Berkner STEM Academy to provide information, discussion, and classroom visits to demonstrate the best practices occurring in RISD.
