Seven AVID Seniors Named National Dell Scholars

AVID

Seven AVID seniors have been named Dell Scholars this year: Crystal Castañeda, Shuibe Abdu, and Nallely Medina Peña of Berkner; Jenny Gallegos and Celeste Rojo López of Pearce; and Awwab Siddiqui and Ahmed Khan of RHS.

The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation began the scholarship program in 2004 to assist highly motivated, underprivileged high school students. There are about 500 Dell Scholars named annually across the U.S., and RISD now has 76 Dell Scholars since 2009. The award includes $20,000, a laptop, credits for textbooks, and a personalized, multifaceted support network.

Congratulations to the students, parents, families, and teachers! #RISDGreatness
